Getting started
[edit | edit source]- Getting started with the Ephemeral Wiki** (the AI-generated “ephemeral” wiki site at https://ephemeral-wiki.onrender.com/) is straightforward. Every page is procedurally generated by AI on each visit and only exists while you view it—visit any URL path and you get a unique page on that topic.
- Quick start (using the live site)
1. Go to **https://ephemeral-wiki.onrender.com/** 2. Append any path/topic to the URL (e.g. `/python`, `/black-holes`, `/history-of-tea`). 3. The page is generated on the fly. Refresh or change the path for a new version.
- Local development / run your own instance
From the official GitHub repo (https://github.com/AnalogCyan/ephemeral-wiki):
1. Clone the repository:
``` git clone https://github.com/AnalogCyan/ephemeral-wiki.git cd ephemeral-wiki ```
2. Install dependencies:
``` pip install -e ".[dev]" ```
3. Set your OpenRouter API key (required):
``` export OPENROUTER_API_KEY="your-key-here" ```
4. Run the server:
``` uvicorn app:app --reload ```
5. Open **http://localhost:8000** in your browser.
- Key configuration (environment variables)
| Variable | Default | Description | |-----------------------|------------------|---------------------------------| | `OPENROUTER_API_KEY` | (required) | Your OpenRouter API key | | `MODEL` | `openrouter/auto`| AI model to use | | `RATE_LIMIT` | `10/minute` | Per-IP rate limit | | `CACHE_TTL` | `600` | Cache lifetime in seconds |
- Deployment notes
The project is set up for Render (via `render.yaml`). Connect the GitHub repo in the Render dashboard and add the `OPENROUTER_API_KEY` environment variable.
It is inspired by LiveOverflow’s related work and uses FastAPI + Uvicorn + OpenRouter.
If this isn’t the exact site you meant by “glocal ephemeral wiki,” feel free to share more details (or a link) and I’ll refine the guide!
